On the 10th of October we will have an interesting NN-Open borrel:
Hans Bos (National Technology Officer) of Microsoft the Netherlands will give a talk about what Microsoft does with open source and such. He is a sort of ambassador of Microsoft in the Netherlands which has to represent and explain the international policy, developments and vision of Microsoft. Likewise he also reports back about developments in the Netherlands. His talk will be followed up by discussion time.
Will be very interesting if you ask me!
All be invited. Full announcement in Dutch is available on the NN-Open website.
Sorry for the late annoucement on my blog. If you want to stay informed about NN-Open events better subscribe to the mailinglist at the nn-open.nl website.

I do hope you and the crowd show them some tough question concerning their aggressive, anti-customer attitude.
More importantly, if they are just spreading FUD, cut their microphone. If not, ask them to go on statement of the legal position of patents.
Also ask them (please): as a market leader, wether the ‘war-attitude’ is the right path to take.. the legal fight, the lies, the intentional incompatibilities, the vendor lock-in tricks.
Perhaps, it’s an interesting question to ask:
“The advantage of open source is freedom. In the past that freedom was seen a theoretical thing. But nowadays more and more players in the market could not survive without that freedom. How does Microsoft feel about the fact that the need for freedom was never stronger under their vendor-locking-suppression? Would the opensource community not be as big as it is today, if Microsoft would have been a nurturing rather than an oppressing market leader.”
Also, just for the fun of it .. ask wether they are embarished to work for Steve Balmer and if they ever throw any chair. He seems to embody the war-side of Microsoft in his personalia.
Could Microsoft ever become a decent citizen .. a party any one could ever trust .. under his leadership?
Because words MEAN NOTHING. I don’t think Microsoft can ever restore the trust in the market when the company is being run by the biggest-asshole in the world… He would rape your children, if it would make a profit and be proud of it ..
No matter what market you are in in IT. .. You should always fear that Microsoft is going to compete with you or with whatever vendor is making your life cheap and easy. Being dependent, in any way, on Microsoft, is by default, a huge risk.
I just .. don’t get why the wolf is going to sheep conference ..
Promise me you’ll make em sweat with intelligent questions.. don’t just give them a platform for FUD or propaghanda.
You have good points and I think we basically agree. Feel free to join the party yourself if you have the time.
Btw I would not describe it as a wolf to a sheep conference. More like he is going into the lions den.
